MI Varnish is a bioavailable varnish treatment that contains calcium, phosphate and fluoride. This product remains on the teeth longer than other fluoride varnishes and contains high levels of fluoride and calcium released in the oral cavity. The difference is in the RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP), which makes MI Varnish a natural and unique choice for your patients. Casein phosphopeptides (CPP) naturally occurs in milk casein; Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP), which is found in the RECALDENT™, is also the source of calcium and phosphate. In the oral cavity, CPP binds to oral surfaces such as teeth, dentin, oral mucosa and biofilm. Calcium and phosphate ions are the building blocks for healthy teeth and MI Varnish delivers bioavailable calcium and phosphate ions into the saliva.

Q. Do I need to be concerned about using MI Varnish with patients that have a milk allergy?
A. MI Varnish contains casein phosphopeptides which is derived from milk casein. Please do not use MI Varnish on patients with a proven or suspected milk protein allergy.

Q. Can MI Varnish (Fresh Strawberry and Fresh Mint flavors) be used on patients with crowns and veneers?
A. MI Varnish (Fresh Strawberry and Fresh Mint flavors) can be applied to the margin area of the crown or veneers.

Q. Is prophylaxis (cleaning) required before the application of MI Varnish (Fresh Strawberry and Fresh Mint flavors)?
A. MI Varnish (Fresh Strawberry and Fresh Mint flavors) does not require a prophylaxis treatment before application.

Q. Is MI Varnish (Fresh Strawberry and Fresh Mint flavors) gluten-free?
A. Yes; MI Varnish (Fresh Strawberry and Fresh Mint flavors) is gluten-free.

Q. Are fluoride varnishes suitable for pre-school children?
A. Yes; fluoride varnish is the only in-office topical fluoride recommended for pre-school children.

Q. Are fluoride varnishes covered by dental insurance?
A. It will depend on the patient’s insurance policy. Please check with your insurance carrier.

Q. Do I have to be concerned about pine nut allergies with 5% Sodium Fluoride Varnish?
A. The ingredient rosin used in MI Varnish (Fresh Strawberry and Fresh Mint flavors) is a processed pine tree extract and not an extract of pine nut. A patient should consult his/her physician.

Q. Does MI Varnish (Fresh Strawberry and Fresh Mint flavors) contain any carbohydrates?
A. If the patient cannot consume any carbohydrates, we do not recommend him/her to use MI Varnish (Fresh Strawberry and Fresh Mint flavors) and to consult a physician or dentist.

Q. Does MI Varnish (Fresh Strawberry and Fresh Mint flavors) contain any dyes?
A. MI Varnish (Fresh Strawberry and Fresh Mint flavors) does not contain dyes.
